Gifted Minds is different.

We take joy in getting to know the unique gifts and needs of every client. Our strength lies in identifying areas of ability while also helping clients understand the impact of their intensities and sensitivities.

To support this, we assess your child’s intellectual strengths and weaknesses using carefully selected IQ tests. This helps you better understand and respond to their specific needs at home and at school.

Our approach goes beyond IQ scores. We look at how your child’s intensities and sensitivities influence their experiences both inside and outside the classroom. We also notice creativity in responses and can identify divergent thinkers whose gifts may be less visible in traditional school settings.

With over twenty-five years of study and practice, we specialise in working with gifted and neurodivergent thinkers. This enables us to provide thoughtful, empathetic assessments that respect individual differences while following approved protocols.

We are not clinical psychologists and do not diagnose mental health disorders or learning difficulties. However, we bring extensive experience in supporting twice-exceptional, neurodiverse, and neurodivergent individuals. Building rapport and trust is always our priority.

Our services.

Intellectual and Achievement Testing.

Intellectual and achievement testing is often the first step in helping parents and individuals understand the unique giftedness of their children or themselves.

Our psychometric testing service is available for gifted and/or creative children, adolescents and adults, ranging from age 4 to 85+ years, and includes the actual assessment plus a detailed written report. A twenty minute follow-up by phone or email is included in the total cost.

WISC-V

The WISC-V is the leading psychometric test to determine intellectual ability for children over six years.

WIAT-III

The WIAT-III is useful for parents who are concerned that their child may be underachieving academically.

The WIAT-III can be used with children as young as four and can be very useful for determining school readiness and the level at which your preschool-age child may be working.

Stanford-Binet (SB5)

We also can administer the SB5, which is recognised by Mensa.

Counselling.

Dominic offers counselling, both online and in person, focusing on the unique needs of the gifted individual.

All counselling for children includes follow up calls with parents or caregivers.

Using Person-Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with mindfulness and strength-based techniques, Dominic works with the client to create balance between the intellectual and social spheres, to build resilience in the face of boredom, to understand sensitivity, over-excitability and frustration and to help build and strengthen social skills and adaptability.

Dominic’s sessions provide an emotionally safe and intellectually stimulating space that provides catharsis from any boredom and frustration at school, any inter-social issues and any sensitivities.
